UM Health-West is one of a select few hospitals in Michigan to receive a national certificate of distinction as an Comprehensive Stroke Center from the Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program (HFAP). UM Health-West has been recognized for its exceptional compliance with national standards, clinical guidelines and outcomes of care related to the treatment of stroke.

Our multidisciplinary team of physicians and nurses work together to meet the unique and specialized needs of stroke patients. Through our streamlined work processes, we act quickly to reduce the effects from the stroke itself, putting the patient on the best possible road to recovery.

Admittance to the UM Health-West’s Stroke Center initiates stroke rehabilitation, education and secondary stroke prevention. Patients are generally admitted through the emergency department and receive their care in the Intensive Care Unit, Progressive Care Unit or on Level Six of UM Health-West Hospital.
