Ronald Grifka, MD

President

Ronald Grifka, MD brings two decades of leadership to his role, which includes overseeing more than 500 UM Health-West physicians. He provides leadership to medical education and serves as the Chief Clinical Quality Officer for the organization. Before joining UM Health-West as CMO, Grifka was Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Michigan, and an attending Cardiologist at C. S. Mott Children’s Hospital. 

Kristi L. Belmore

Vice President, Finance

A senior finance leader skilled at developing and executing financial controls that improve revenue and control cost. An extensive track record in developing and overseeing high-performing teams, with expertise in all aspects of healthcare finances, including budgeting, analysis and reporting, auditing and internal controls, reimbursement, and cost accounting.

Stacie Bommersbach

Vice President, Quality & Patient Safety

Driven by a passion for nursing excellence to lead progressive and sustainable strategies for safety and quality that surpass expectations of patients and families. An experienced healthcare executive with a track record of raising quality ratings. Has demonstrated effectiveness in reducing serious safety events for patients and staff, decreasing sepsis mortality, and eliminating penalties for hospital-acquired infections.

Thomas Fantin

Vice President, Information Technology

An experienced IT professional skilled at managing the intersection of technology and human potential. Energized by helping teams succeed through understanding of complex systems. Contributes to UM Health-West efficiency and quality of care by continually advancing capabilities of information systems.

Tena M. Hoxsie

Vice President of Patient Financial Experience

An experienced, collaborative and creative leader who combines positive revenue cycle performance with positive financial experiences for patients. Extensive contributions to billing and customer service systems through a series of progressively responsible roles at UM Health-West, including leading the coordination, integration and alignment with Michigan Medicine revenue operations.

Kris P. Kurtz

Chief Financial Officer

As the Chief Financial Officer at University of Michigan Health-West, Kris Kurtz is responsible for the executive leadership of UM Health-West’s Financial Operations, Decision Support, Capital Planning, Patient Financial Services, Health Information Management, and Procurement.

Jarrett Martus

Chief of Staff to the President

A seasoned adviser, liaison, and governance expert who supports the President through effective coordination and communication with the Executive Team, Board of Directors and Michigan Medicine. Represents the President in internal and external meetings. Serves on several committees both internally and externally.

Gregory Meyer

Chief Community Officer

An accomplished development executive with a strong track record in building community relationships and exceeding fundraising goals. Previously served in senior roles at Aquinas College, the University of Michigan and the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids.

Lance M. Owens

Chief Medical Information Officer

A practicing physician committed to his patients while also supporting UM Health-West’s progress into an increasingly digital future. A Navy veteran and practitioner of servant leadership who has consistently gained roles of responsibility since his days as an intern and then family health resident at UM Health-West.

Jeffrey D. Postlewaite

Vice President, Medical Administration and Medical Education

Brings more than 21 years of private practice experience to administrative roles at UM Health-West. At UM Health-West, implemented a hospital-based laborist program in OB/GYN and developed and implemented a sustained Interdisciplinary High Fidelity Simulation Curriculum. Known for his ability to create a supportive learning environment for medical residents and students while expecting excellence from both learners and professional colleagues.

Monica Taylor

Chief Operations Officer, Medical Group

Accomplished in providing regional access to high-quality medical care through strategic vision and an emphasis on operational excellence, Taylor oversees operations of all UM Health-West clinics and neighborhood outpatient centers. Track record includes launch and oversight of six regional care centers with multiple service lines on behalf of Ascension Medical Group in Indianapolis market.

P. Peter VanLaan

Associate General Counsel

An expert in health law who safeguards UM Health-West’s position to deliver consistently excellent care to patients. Provides sound and practical counsel on regulatory compliance and reporting, patient rights and privacy, procurement and contracts, reimbursement, joint ventures, governance and more, focusing on what is best for patients.

Kate Veenstra

Chief Nursing Officer

Experienced clinician and proven executive who delivers an exceptional patient experience through nursing innovation, accountability and professional development. Provides executive level management of nursing resources to accomplish clinical, financial, and quality objectives.

J. Josh Wilda

Chief Digital & Information Officer

As Chief Digital and Information Officer at University of Michigan Health-West, Joshua Wilda is responsible for the executive leadership and strategic oversight of UM Health-West’s Health Information Technology division and the corporate Project Management Offices.
