As the Chief Financial Officer and the Chief Operating Officer at University of Michigan Health-West, Kris Kurtz is responsible for the executive leadership of UM Health-West’s Financial Operations, Decision Support, Capital Planning, Patient Financial Services, Health Information Management, and Procurement. Kurtz is a graduate of Michigan State University, a certified public accountant and has more than 25 years of healthcare experience including 20 years in a financial leadership role.
Prior to joining UM Health-West Kurtz served in various leadership positions from 2000-2007 within Trinity Health most recently as Controller at St. Joseph’s Healthcare (now Henry Ford Macomb) in Clinton Township. Kurtz started his career in public accounting in 1991 at Wolinski & Company, CPA in Detroit eventually becoming a Senior Manager before joining Trinity Health in 2000.
