Hospital Safety Policies

This is a place of healing, where patients, visitors and staff should have an expectation of being treated with courtesy and respect.

Inappropriate Behavior

Staff is authorized to maintain a zero-tolerance policy for aggressive, intimidating or inappropriate behavior. If you witness aggressive behavior of any kind, please notify a staff member.


Weapons Policy

The possession of firearms and other weapons is prohibited on our premises.


No Smoking

UM Health-West Hospital and the Village are smoke-free environments. We appreciate your cooperation in complying with this regulation.

Live Healthy Classes & Events

Latex Balloons

Due to latex sensitivity, latex balloons are not permitted in the hospital. Foil mylar balloons are acceptable.


Cellular Phones

Free Wi-Fi is available within the hospital. However, use of wireless devices, such as cell phones and two-way radios, is prohibited within three feet of an active electronic medical device that is connected to a patient. Visitors may also be asked to make calls in the waiting area to reduce the level of noise in a patient’s room.
