Neurological Testing
The UM Health-West Neuroscience staff provides sophisticated testing to help diagnose and treat conditions that affect the nervous system.
Some common tests we perform are Electroencephalogram (EEG) and Electromyogram (EMG) & Nerve Conduction Studies.
An EEG measures the electrical activity of your brain. This test is commonly used to diagnose epilepsy, see what types of seizures are occurring, and check for problems involving loss of consciousness, confusion, or dementia.
An EMG measures the electrical activity of muscles at rest and during contraction. Nerve conduction studies measure how well the nerves can send electrical signals. This helps to locate areas that are causing pain or problems.
