Emergency & Trauma

The Emergency Department (ED) is a fast paced 31 bed Level II Trauma Center with approximately 60,000 visits per year.  The ED nurse triages, assesses, and treats patients of all ages while working with a multidisciplinary team.  The emergency department emphasizes critical thinking, time management, and quality patient care.

Trauma Services works with many departments to ensure that patients who are seen at UM Health-West because of an injury are taken care of according to the requirements of the American College of Surgeons for a Level II Trauma Center. In addition, we provide prevention programs in the community, education to healthcare providers and collaborate with other hospitals in the area, region and state to provide a coordinated trauma care system.
