Chemotherapy

Chemotherapy is the use of drugs to destroy cancer. Not all treatments are the same. A cancer patient’s treatment may consist of one drug or a group of drugs that work together—called combination therapy.

Chemotherapy drugs can be taken by mouth or directly injected into the bloodstream. They can be given in your doctor’s office, in the hospital or at home, depending on how you’re feeling and what kind(s) of drug(s) you’re receiving.

Chemotherapy treatments are administered at regular intervals – each plan being tailored to the individual patient’s need. The length and frequency of treatment depends upon the specific patient and medication(s) being used.
