Childbirth Center

At the UM Health-West SpartanNash Family Childbirth Center, all our rooms are private, spacious, and beautiful, with state-of-the-art technology, comfort and convenience.

The childbirth center itself is designed to create a soothing, healing environment. The artwork gracing the walls features images of mothers, fathers, infants from families who have trusted us to bring new life into the world – photography donated by Dan Davison of Douglas Photography.

Postpartum recovery rooms come fully equipped with flat-screen TVs, movies on demand, wireless internet, access to instant electronic education information, plenty of windows, and in-room bathrooms and showers. Each room has a couch that converts to a full-size bed for dad or other family members.

The nursery is conveniently located nearby when you need to rest or want a few moments to yourself.

Visiting Information

We want you to be able to celebrate the birth of your newborn in peace and comfort. Our visitation policies are meant to help provide you with a stress-free experience.

  • The father of the baby or the mother’s significant other will be able to spend the night. Only one person may spend the night.
  • Individuals being triaged to determine whether or not they will be admitted may have one support person in the triage area with them.
  • Visiting hours are 8 am to 8 pm seven days a week once the baby is born. Visitors will not be restricted during this time period except as follows:
    • Healthy children are allowed to visit during visiting hours only and require the supervision of an adult other than the new mother.
    • Persons with any signs of illness will not be able to visit at any time.
