The Childbirth Center is a Level 1 facility caring for women and newborns with approximately 1,600 births yearly. The department is comprised of 11 labor & delivery suites, 19 postpartum rooms, two on-site cesarean section suites and an intermediate care and well newborn nursery. Childbirth Center nurses support laboring women through the birthing process, stabilize and support newborns and help caregivers bond with their baby(ies). Nurses provide education, assist with procedures including epidural placement and circumcision and are fully trained to circulate in our c-section suites. Their role requires autonomy along with involvement in Women’s Health quality collaboratives.
