Join us for an empowering 6-week series focused on healthful culinary and nutrition practices to promote wellness and prevent chronic disease. We will address topics to help combat weight gain, diabetes, and heart disease. This dietitian led series will include three cooking classes and three nutritional education classes. We intend to help make healthy habits long-lasting!
Week 1 (April 13) Food For Fuel: : Nutrition is essential to help maintain overall health and wellness. We will explore creative ways to fuel a healthy body with good nutrition. We will also discuss how to avoid unhealthy ingredients that can contribute to chronic illness.
Week 2 (April 20) Build a Better Breakfast: Jump-start your morning and your metabolism with a healthy breakfast! We will also discuss how to avoid unhealthy breakfast choices. Samples and recipes provided!
Week 3 (April 27) Label Reading: Packages foods can be loaded with excessive amounts of salt, sugar and fat. We will explore how to become more informed grocery shoppers. We will also discuss meal planning and how to shop with intention.
Week 4 (May 4) Salads & Dressings: Salads are a great way to increase vegetables and they don't have to be boring or tasteless. Let's get creative with salads and homemade dressings!
Week 5: (May 11) Mindful Eating: Break your dieting cycle with mindful eating. Many factors beyond hunger can impact what we eat. By practicing mindful eating, you will learn how to become more in-tune with your body and its response to food.
Week 6: (May 18) Dinner in a Snap: Time is something we wish we all had more of, especially when it comes to fixing dinner. Today, we will learn how to combine both fresh and convenience items to make a fast, healthy and affordable evening meal.
