Assisted Breathing Center

The Assisted Breathing Center (ABC) is an 18 bed unit that focuses on the care of complex patients that require ventilator support for at least six hours a day. Nurses working in the ABC develop excellent assessment, wound care, wound prevention and communication skills caring for patients during their stay. The nursing staff work closely with the interdisciplinary team (Respiratory Therapists, Providers, Social Work/Case Management, Dietary and the therapy team) to help patients achieve their goals.

Nursing staff are provided a comprehensive orientation to multiple medical-surgical departments within the hospital, providing the opportunity to care for a varied patient population while developing a robust range of nursing skills caring for both medical/surgical patients and ventilated patients.
