Occupational medicine specialists are medical doctors who specialize in helping organizations maintain a safe and healthy workplace and provide care for injured workers and assist them in getting back to work. An occupational medicine specialist is a preventive medicine specialist who is further specialized in occupational medicine.

Occupational medicine specialists can be board-certified through the Board of Preventive Medicine, which is recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties.
