Ear, Nose, and Throat Specialist (Otolaryngologist)

Ear, nose, and throat (ENT) specialists are medical doctors who specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases or conditions of the ear, nose, and throat. They may also be called otolaryngologists (say "oh-toh-lair-un-GAWL-uh-jists") or head and neck surgeons.

ENT doctors perform surgery for sinus and sleep problems, remove tonsils and tumors, help with hearing and balance problems, and more. Some ENT doctors also do cosmetic and reconstructive surgery (plastic surgery).

ENT doctors can be certified through the Board of Otolaryngology, which is recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties.
