Collection Requirements
Label slides (2-4 is optimal) with patient's name and immediately fix them after making the smear with either spray fixative or by dropping them into 95% alcohol in a Coplin jar. After preparing slides, place brush in 30ml of Cytolyt collection fluid. Label containers with patient's name and one other patient identifier; room number, if applicable; doctor's name; date and time of collection; and source of specimen.
Shipping and Handling Instructions
May be stored at room temperature when the slides and brush are treated with fixative immediately following collection.
