Generic Name: Sodium Fluoride
Instructions
Some brands of this medicine should be used instead of your usual toothpaste. Other brands of this medicine should be used after brushing your teeth with your usual toothpaste and rinsing. Ask your health care provider how to use this medicine.
Apply a thin layer of the medicine to your teeth, using a toothbrush or mouth tray. Leave the medicine on the teeth for at least two minutes, then spit out the medicine. Do not swallow.
Do not eat or drink for 30 minutes after taking this medicine.
Do not rinse your mouth after using this medicine.
Keep the medicine at room temperature. Avoid heat and direct light.
If you forget to take a dose on time, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, do not take the missed dose. Return to your normal schedule. Do not take 2 doses at one time.
Do not take the medicine more than once during 24 hours.
Cautions
Do not use the medication any more than instructed.
Tell the doctor or pharmacist if you are pregnant, planning to be pregnant, or breastfeeding.
Ask your pharmacist if this medicine can interact with any of your other medicines. Be sure to tell them about all the medicines you take.
Please tell all your doctors and dentists that you are on this medicine before they provide care.
Do not share this medicine with anyone who has not been prescribed this medicine.
Side Effects
The following is a list of some common side effects from this medicine. Please speak with your doctor about what you should do if you experience these or other side effects.
- irritation of mouth and gum tissue
Call your doctor or get medical help right away if you notice any of these more serious side effects:
- color changes or pitting of the teeth
A few people may have an allergic reaction to this medicine. Symptoms can include difficulty breathing, skin rash, itching, swelling, or severe dizziness. If you notice any of these symptoms, seek medical help quickly.
