Palliative Care Services
If you suffer from a chronic or life-threatening illness, palliative care at the UM Health-West Cancer Center will focus on relieving your suffering and improving your quality of life. We also offer support services for your family.
While our focus is on pain and symptom management, palliative care is different from hospice care, in that patients do not have to have a terminal diagnosis. While receiving palliative care, you may continue with curative treatments, and there is no limitation related to life expectancy.
Benefits of Palliative Care
- Relief of problematic symptoms including pain, nausea, difficulty breathing, anxiety, depression and fatigue
- Help navigating the medical system
- Helping you achieve a better understanding of your plan of care
