University of Michigan Health-West was honored with a top national award for the impact and effectiveness of its Employee Resource Groups, recognizing the crucial role they play in promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within the organization.
Talent Dimensions and the Global ERG Network named UM Health-West’s DEI Steering Committee the No. 1 Enterprise-Wide Employee Resource Group (ERG), and its Makabila ERG (Swahili for “tribes”) secured the No. 4 spot among the Top 25 ERG Award recipients. The Diversity Impact Awards were announced Friday, Oct. 13 in Washington D.C. during the 2023 Global ERG Network Conference.
“Being recognized as a top Employee Resource Groups is a testament to our commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at University of Michigan Health-West. We prioritize inclusivity, guided by anti-racism and health equity, and are dedicated to creating a culture where all can achieve their highest level of health and wellness,” said Thomas Pierce, UM Health-West Head of DEI Development.
Organizations are scored in key areas that ERGs, business resource groups (BRGs) and diversity councils should focus on to drive results. Using data from the application process allows these groups to articulate their impact and provide an expanded opportunity for learning. When organizations participate year-over-year in the Diversity Impact Awards, the data provides a benchmark among competing organizations and the ability to chart or measure their own progress over time.
Talent Dimensions’ mission is to empower organizations to foster inclusive workspaces where every employee feels a true sense of belonging. Through aligning DEI strategies with business goals and nurturing a sense of belonging, organizations build the essential infrastructure for success.
