Nurses are special people who care for community members during the best and worst times of their lives. Over the past year, Metro Health nurses, like Kat, proved that not even a pandemic could hold back their compassionate, expert care for patients.
Kat is a registered nurse at the Metro Health Assisted Breathing Center. Located in Metro Health Hospital, the Assisted Breathing Center is one of the leading vent units in Michigan, providing critical support for people who are ventilator dependent.
Before joining Metro Health, Kat heard that it was a great place to work from friends and coworkers. Upon joining the team, Kat trained on all floors of the hospital, including the ICU. Now, after two years at Metro Health, she understands the exceptional and supportive staff culture first-hand.
“Family,” “support” and “welcoming” are words that Kat uses to describe Metro Health, adding that her favorite part of working at Metro Health is, “getting to work with so many awesome colleagues.”
After a busy shift, Kat enjoys coming home to a house full of family and pets. She has three dogs – Luke, Dozer and Sierra – and two cats – Macy and Abby. She also treasures time spent watching her two sons play baseball, her favorite sport.
Kat remains passionate about providing service to others in a warm and friendly environment.
“I love to help others,” she said. “I want patients to have the best experience possible.”
