The Progressive Care Unit (PCU) is a 21 bed step-down unit designed to provide a high level of nursing care to medical and surgical patients requiring a higher level of care than can be provided on the medical/surgical floor. The PCU is for patients with serious illness or injury whose needs surpass what can be provided for in the general nursing units, but do not meet the admission criteria for intensive care.
