The rest of the country is catching on to what West Michigan already knows: Metro Health – University of Michigan is a great place to work.
That not-so-well-kept secret is out, now that National Association for Business Resources (NABR) has named Metro Health to its 2018 nationwide list of Best and Brightest Companies to Work For.
Companies that made the list were chosen for excellence in employee relations, using innovation to motivate employees, use of creative compensation and more. An independent research firm evaluated 2,400 nominations before selecting 512 national winning organizations.
“This award belongs to our employees, who create and sustain the culture that is the hallmark of Metro Health – University of Michigan Health,” said President and CEO Dr. Peter Hahn. “They know why this is a great place to work, because they make it that way.”
The honor comes months after Metro Health was named as the only Grand Rapids-area health system on the list of Best and Brightest Companies to Work For in West Michigan. It was the seventh time in the past eight years Metro Health earned the regional honor. This is the third time it made the national list, with previous recognitions in 2013 and 2014.
“We have always believed it’s important for a health system to have a healthy work environment,” Hahn said. “When people love what they do, when they want to help their co-workers succeed, it translates to better care for our patients. People notice that atmosphere when they come here.”
The evaluation process includes a review of company data and anonymous employee surveys. NABR’s goal is to honor organizations that display a commitment to excellence in operations and employee enrichment that lead to increased productivity and financial performance.
“Companies that recognize that their employees are the key to their success achieve staying power,” said Jennifer Kluge, President and CEO of NABR. “Our 2018 winners create their human resource standards to ensure employee satisfaction and they set standards for every business to aspire toward.”
