Bypass risks

Graph of 100 people, showing how many out of 100 have had certain risks from bypass surgery.

Complication rates in hospitals show that people who have bypass surgery have the risk of several problems from the surgery. For example, out of every 100 people who have bypass surgery, fewer than 1 may have a deep infection of the chest incision; about 2 might have kidney problems; about 1 might have a stroke; and 1 or 2 might die from the surgery.
