Support Groups

Breastfeeding Support Group

All moms and babies are welcome to come together to allow breastfeeding mothers to support each other through the sharing of their unique breastfeeding journeys and experiences while receiving support from a certified lactation consultant. This group is designed to help moms gain confidence in breastfeeding through friendship and encouragement. This group will meet on the 2nd floor in the Mike and Beverly Faas Classroom. Registration required.

Parkinson’s Disease Support Group

Parkinson’s Disease is a progressive nervous disorder which can cause a variety of symptoms including difficulty with movement and communication. This support group offers education, support, and resources to patients with Parkinson’s Disease, caregivers and other members of their support team.

Although caregivers/family members are welcome, we request a maximum of one per participant due to space limitations.

Aphasia Support Group

“Aphasia” is difficulty with language affecting the ability to speak and understand speech, as well as reading and writing. It most commonly results from brain injury after stroke. This group is an opportunity for people with aphasia to support each other and practice communication strategies in a supportive environment. Education about aphasia and communication strategies will be provided. Caregivers are also welcome.

Better Breathers Club

Breathe easier knowing you are not alone. Our Better Breathers Club meets once a month to present educational information and offer support to individuals with chronic lung disease and their families. Registration is required.

Stroke Support Group

The West Michigan Chapter of the Joe Niekro Foundation is offering outreach and support for brain aneurysm, AVM and stroke survivors and their caregivers. The goal is to help patients and family members discuss and deal with depression, returning to society and work, and coping with disabilities. Meetings are taking place in person or online.
