Exercise for Parkinson's Disease

This is a free exercise class specifically designed for people with Parkinson’s disease. Led by LSVT BIG certified physical therapists, it is a combination of chair and standing exercises. If needed for individual safety a caregiver can also attend.

Kidney PATH

  • Kidney Personal Action Toward Health (Kidney-PATH) is a 8-week virtual workshop for participants who are in various stages of Chronic Kidney Disease. The first six weeks focus on overall healthy living, with two additional sessions that cover kidney specific content. This free course is brought to you by the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan.

    • You have kidney disease, kidney failure, or a kidney transplant
    • You are a caregiver

Parkinson's Disease is a progressive nervous disorder which can cause a variety of symptoms including difficulty with movement and communication. This support group offers education, support, and resources to patients with Parkinson's Disease, caregivers and other members of their support team. Although caregivers/family members are welcome, we request a maximum of one per participant due to space limitations.

Moving with Parkinson's Dance Therapy

This free class is led by and instructor from the Grand Rapids Ballet and has been specifically developed for people with Parkinson’s disease. The class, which is accompanied by music, incorporates therapeutic movements in the sitting and standing positions.

Breastfeeding Support Group

All moms and babies are welcome to come together to allow breastfeeding mothers to support each other through the sharing of their unique breastfeeding journeys and experiences while receiving support from a certified lactation consultant. This group is designed to help moms gain confidence in breastfeeding through friendship and encouragement. This group will meet on the 2nd floor in the Mike and Beverly Faas Classroom. Registration required.   If registration is closed, but you would still like to attend, please call 616-252-7894 to register.

Newborn Care Class

Taking your baby home and the first six weeks are exciting. Let us help you prepare! This class will help new parents feel more confident, comfortable and prepared for the first six weeks of baby’s life. It’s also ideal for parents who are adopting a newborn. You’ll enjoy the hands-on stations to practice real-life scenarios, as well as great discussion that includes practical tips. Topics include: newborn appearance, senses and brain development, understanding baby’s communication cues, why babies cry and how to comfort them, feeding your baby, diapering, bathing, sleeping, keeping baby healthy and safe, and more! We recommend that you take this class in addition to the Childbirth Class. *This class is $35 and is directly billed to your insurance. Your insurance will not be billed until after you have completed this class series. You are responsible for any balance not covered by insurance. If you have questions regarding insurance coverage, please contact your insurance company directly. They may ask for a diagnostic or procedure code: Newborn Care (Parenting) Class (S9444).
